LOGAN — Charles “Chuck” Houtz, formerly of Lima, will celebrate his 90th birthday March 19, 2013. An open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., March 17th, at Young at Heart Senior Center, 490 West Lake Street, Lakeview OH. Cards may be sent to Charles R. Houtz was born March 19, 1923, in Lima to Myrtle M. and William W. Houtz. He married Clara M. Rutledge, who died in 1999.
He has one son, Charles (Cindy) Houtz II, of Logan; and one daughter, Bonnie J. (Richard) Huffer, of Lakeview. He has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with the seventh great-grandchild expected in May.
Houtz has two sisters, Betty Bowers and Margaret Shindeldecker, both of Lima, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Houtz is a World War II veteran who served with the Army 52nd Engineers in the Pacific theater. He meets with his World War II buddies yearly. He is currently a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
He retired from Clark Equipment in Lima after 40 years of service. He also worked with Green Thumb, of Lima, after he retired.
Houtz enjoys spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. He likes to spend time outdoors when he is able. He enjoys meeting people, and makes friends wherever he goes.
