Interstate 75, Lima, at Fourth Street and Reservoir Road bridge replacement projects will have the following impacts to traffic in the coming weeks. Work is being performed by Eagle Bridge, Sidney.
The bridge replacements are Phase 1 of a 3-phase project which will reconstruct Interstate 75 from the Auglaize County line to just north of Ohio 81, including the city of Lima. Work on the mainline of Interstate 75 will not begin until 2013:
Fourth Street – Fourth Street over Interstate 75 reopened to traffic on Wednesday, November 7.
Reservoir Road – Reservoir Road over Interstate 75 closed May 1 until late November for a bridge replacement project. As part of the project, Bryn Mawr Road from Reservoir Road to Elm Street also closed May 1 until late November. Work on the project will continue after the bridge reopens to traffic.
Traffic on Interstate 75 in the area of the bridge is maintained, two lanes in each direction, with occasional daytime and nighttime lanes closures necessary at times.
Hanthorn Road over Interstate 75 in Lima will be closed on November 21 from 8 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m. for bridge deck repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT bridge department in cooperation with the Allen County Engineer’s Office.
Ohio 309 (Elida Road) on the west side of Lima in the area of the Lima Mall will observe a suggested change in traffic pattern beginning Wednesday prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. An electronic message board will be placed west of Hartzler Road and will direct eastbound motorists to remain in the right lane if they do not wish to access the mall. It is anticipated that traffic waiting to turn left into the mall at Hartzler Road may back up at times into the left travel lane. The suggested travel pattern is an effort to keep traffic flowing as efficiently as possible and will remain in place until Monday of the following week.
Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound, one mile north of the Auglaize County line (mile marker 119.4), and approximately 1.2 miles south of Breese Road will be restricted on Monday of the week for bridge deck patching. The restriction will be in place from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Work is being performed by ODOT bridge crew.
Interstate 75 traffic, both northbound and southbound, near the Ohio 309 interchange will be slowed for intervals of up to 20 minutes on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18 to allow for placement of utility lines over the interstate. The operation is expected to occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days. Traffic control on Interstate 75 will be provided by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Traffic entering the interstate at Ohio 65 northbound, Fourth Street northbound and Ohio 81 southbound will be controlled during the operation. Work is being performed by American Electric Power.
Interstate 75 northbound from Breese Road to Ohio 309 (mile marker 122 to 125) restricted through the work zone on Monday of the week for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by Allen County ODOT.
Interstate 75 northbound from Napoleon Road to Ohio 696 (mile marker 135 to 136) will be restricted through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks on Tuesday of the week. Work is being performed by Allen County ODOT.
