LIMA — End 2017 on a good note. Go out and have some fun. The Lima Symphony Orchestra presents its pop concert for the night with featured guests, Five By Design, and many other organizations are hosting partieis to end this year.

The Lima Symphony Orchestra brings “Music of the Mad Men Era” featuring Five By Design at 7:30 p.m. Sunday to the Civic Center. Five By Design is based out of Minneapolis and they’re known as America’s premier vocal quintet.

“We don’t do too many pops concert, one in the summer and one on New Year’s Eve. In doing so, we usually feature a guest artist or guest group. While they will be our featured artist, our symphony will be backing them up. But these arrangements aren’t things we get to play very often and even though they’re taking center stage, the symphony will be sounding so lush and so gorgeous. We hear these songs on the radio, but hearing them live, these very nostalgic, vintage tunes, they just don’t write music like that today,” said Sara Chongson, marketing and ticketing coordinator. “It’s really fun to hear and fun to experience that live. Come dressed in your favorite vintage outfit and enjoy your step back in time to the 1960s. It should be really fun.”

The concert will last approximately 90 minutes, maybe a little longer — still plenty of time to enjoy other New Year’s Eve events later that night.
