LIMA — The Lima Symphony Orchestra kicks off the holiday season with its traditional Bells, Brass & Bows concert this weekend.
“We are very excited. This is our most popular concert of the season, absolutely. It’s a tradition that many families take part in. You get to hear the traditional carols. The Lima Symphony Chorus is always very prominently featured in our Bells, Brass & Bows concert. Honestly it’s been about 20 years now that they’ve been back with us and they’ve become such an important part of it,” said Sara Chongson, marketing and ticketing coordinator. “We have a bell choir from St. Paul United Church of Christ, in Wapakoneta. They will be featured on two numbers.”
It’s not just about music though, as there will be a reading of “The Night Before Christmas.”
“This year we have the president from Ohio Northern University, Dan DiBiasio reading it,” said Chongson. “That’s always a favorite because I think it really engages the children in the audience.”
The ambiance of the Civic Center decorated in holiday splendor is part of the event.
“It’s really nice at the Civic Center. It’s such a beautiful stage picture with our full orchestra and the Symphony Chorus. It fills the center with the spirit of the Christmas season,” said Chongson.
Tickets will be available at the door, but arrive early.
