LIMA — St. Rose Festival kicks off festival season for the Lima area this weekend. The festival runs Saturday and Sunday.
“We have our festival early because we are a small festival. Hopefully it’s nice weather so people will take advantage of that and get out of the doldrums and kick off their summer events. It will be a little bit different because we have our construction so it’s not going to be as big as it normally is, but we still have our great food, great entertainment and it’s a great atmosphere,” said Mary Paton, event organizer. “We really only have the main parking lot to house the fun and activities, so unfortunately we are not going to have the chicken dinners and again we don’t have enough room for the mechanical rides this year. We are still going to have the kiddie games, our Chinese auction and various raffles.”
Saturday is adult night.
“We have roasted almonds, funnel cakes, wings, hamburgers, hotdogs and brats. It’s adult night so we do have games of chance for the adults. It is $2 to get in but that starts at 7 p.m., so from 5 to 7 p.m. you can come in, eat dinner and that sort of thing. At 7:30 the band starts and anyone under 21 would have to leave at that time,” Paton said.
Sunday is considered family day and there is no charge to get in on Sunday.
“Again we’ll have the wings, hamburgers, brats, hotdogs, ice cream that kind of thing on sale. We are adding beef and noodles and mashed potatoes to the mix on Sunday,” said Paton.
Proceeds benefit the church’s general fund.
