SPENCERVILLE — June Carnes is celebrating her 90th birthday. An open house and dinner will begin at noon Feb. 25 at Kossuth Zion United Methodist Church. Please omit gifts.
She was born Feb. 24, 1928, in Spencerville, to Chet and Bea Bowersock. She married Mirth Carnes, who is deceased.
She has four children, Paul Carnes, Clay Carnes and John Carnes, all of Spencerville, and Wayne Carnes, of Franklin, Indiana. She has 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. One grandchild is deceased.
She and her late husband were active in the church. She owned a home bakery for 35 years, specializing in cakes, candy and cookies at holiday time. She also make noodles, cinnamon rolls, bread and pies from scratch. She retired in 1999 but continued to bake from time to time. Her hobby in later years is doll making.
