90th birthday: Norma Martz

COLUMBUS GROVE — Norma Ilene Renner Martz is celebrating her 90th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 6 a Cairo United Methodist Church.

She was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Rimer to Oscar and Jennie Caskey Renner. On Aug. 15, 1948, she married Lewis Martz, who died March 28, 2006.

She has six children, James (Julie) Martz, of Columbus Grove, Gregory (Linda) Martz, of Elida, Lou (Edwin) Suter, of Ottawa, Donna Reinsel, of Ocala, Florida, Cynthia (Richard) Wallace, of Columbus Grove, and Kent (Annette) Martz, of Pittsburgh. She has 11 grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She retired from Nationwide Industries. She is a member of Cairo United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society and LOFF Club. She began singing at the age of 4 with her mother on piano accompaniment. Singing became a lifelong passion. She continued to sing in the church choir, weddings, barbershop and with the Monica Stevens group at area nursing homes.
