OTTAWA ó The Pontiac GTO was built by Pontiac from 1964 to 1974. John DeLorean, Bill Collins and Russ Gee were responsible for the GTOís existence. The name was DeLoreanís idea, and was inspired by the Ferrari 250 GTO, the successful race car. The GTO was a muscle car classic of the 60ís and 70ís. From itís inception in 1964 through 1973, the GTO was closely related to the mid-sized Pontiac Tempest.

Doc and Pam Eickholt, of Ottawa, shared this 1973 Pontiac GTO. Pamís husband, Ken Koontz, purchased it in 1978. It had been owned by someone else in Ottawa, and when Ken saw it was for sale, he bought it because he always liked it. Ken passed away in July of 1991, and Pamís brother Rodney Diemer and her current husband Vince ďDocĒ Eickholt completely restored the car. It had some rust on the frame and they put a lot of hours in working on the frame. Currently, the Eickholtís use it as a Sunday afternoon car and take it to some car shows, but not a lot.
