LIMA — The Ford Galaxie was built by Ford Motor Company from 1959 through 1974. It was the counterpart to Chevy’s Impala. The days of power were in full swing, as Ford introduced five different V-8 engine options in 1962. The 1962 models were rounder than the previous Galaxies, gone were the tailfins. Taillights were set lower into the rear panel and were partially sunken into the rear bumper. The model worked, as Ford decided to not change a thing for the 1963 model year.
Randy Shroyer, of Lima, owns this 1962 Ford Galaxie 500. He has owned it since 1983. He restored it completely two and a half years ago. He worked day and night, doing everything himself but rebuilding the engine. Shroyer said he likes old muscle cars, and enjoys driving it on the weekends.
