Party at the Beach with the Danger Brothers Saturday

INDIAN LAKE - The name says it all.

Party at the Beach with the Danger Brothers is Saturday at Old Field Beach, featuring local band Amanda Overboard and headliner the Danger Brothers.

The event is a popular fundraiser for the Indian Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Last year, about 1,500 people packed the beach for the party, and event planners are expecting 2,000 people this year.

"I just had a call from Cincinnati," said Pam Miller, executive director of the chamber. "There's not a whole lot of places you can party on the beach like that."

The event was unique when it began three years ago.

"We were the first to ever have alcohol on a state property," Miller said. "The state just had to sign off on it. Since then, several other parks have done it and it's worked out well."

The beach is closed to the general public for this adult-oriented event. At the gate, you will be assigned wristbands coded for drinkers or non-drinkers. Those arriving by boat will also be given wristbands. The wristbands allow for re-entry.

Beer - Budweiser products this year - will be available for $3 for 16 ounces or seven beers for $20. Wine coolers, water and pop will also be available. No coolers are allowed. Food vendors will also offer plenty of snacks.

"From popcorn, peanuts, pork sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, fried veggies, anything and everything," Miller said.

New this year is a second stage, Miller said. The stages will be set up on the blacktop, with the performers looking out at the lake.

Boats, monitored by the Division of Watercraft, are welcome to pull up to the beach after paying admission.

"You can sit on your boat and dance on your boat ... and many people do," Miller said.

The sheriff's department and park rangers will also help monitor the crowd.

Bring lawnchairs or picnic blankets to stay for the day. You may also bring pop-up tents, but tents must be set up in the back of the festival area to keep views clear. There will be additional picnic tables and restrooms.
