LIMA — Where could you expect to see stilt walking, juggling and fire eating? At a Lima Symphony Orchestra concert, of course.

That is, if it’s the annual family-friendly Symphantasy, being presented at a family-friendly $10 rate Sunday at Veterans Memorial Civic Center.

“This year we’re going back to a family program, which always does so well. This is the best of everything, it’s short numbers, lots of action and interaction. Truly, something for everyone,” said Elizabeth Brown, marketing director for the symphony.

Joining the symphony for this show will be the Cincinnati Circus Company that will bring hula hoopers, jugglers and the show-stopping fire eaters. They will be joined by unicyclists from the WOW 4-H Unicycle Club in Findlay, gymnasts from Flip-Tuck Gymnastics in Van Wert, and Lima City Schools’ Liberty Arts Magnet students dressed up for Beetlejuice.

“These are some pretty amazing offerings. And many of them involve kids, which is great because kids always love to see kids their age doing phenomenal things,” Brown said.

But the spotlight for the program will be on the symphony.

“The music for this show is incredible. It includes music from 'Spiderman' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean' that is fun and lively. This is a different performance as we like to reach out and see kids get enthused. This concert encourages kids to yell at the stage. It’s quick-paced and visual. No one should feel their kids are too young to sit still through this. They don’t need to. From the youngest on up, this concert appeals to all,” Brown said.

And to make the $10 ticket prices even more appealing, any youngster participating in LSO’s KidStuff at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lima Public Library can get in free to the concert if they bring the instrument they make at the KidStuff program. Also, KidStuff participants will have the opportunity to perform as a group with the symphony.
