DELPHOS — The Delphos Area Art Guild has a lot to celebrate of late.
The organization was located in donated space on the second floor of the postal museum in Delphos but decided to move to a first-floor location with properly lighted gallery space. With the move will come a bigger emphasis on art, including everything from traditional visual art to guitar lessons and crochet classes.
Shauna Smith, executive director, said there are also classes for children.
“We just kind of want to be the home base for that in the Delphos area,” she said.
The guild is celebrating its new space with a grand-opening exhibition of 13 works by local artist Vincent Whitehead. He draws in ballpoint pen, primarily, taking inspiration from the scenes in this area he sees while driving a package delivery truck.
“A lot of the pieces are local, which is wonderful,” Smith said.
The exhibit continues through Aug. 24, with a reception 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays when the gallery is hosting exhibitions; hours outside of that are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
The guild’s main entrance is on Second Street, but there is ADA access available through the shop which fronts Main Street.
