It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. If you have yet to find your holiday cheer, there are plenty of festive opportunities going on this week to put you in a jolly old mood.
Downtown Holiday Festival
Area stores will have special activities from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Also, a live Nativity will be present, as will the Lima Senior Band performing holiday music.
A Blues Christmas
The City Club

The United Way of Greater Lima and The Third Floor Band join forces to host this annual event at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, featuring the Christmas story in blues, folk and rock music. $15 at 419-227-6341.
Holiday Craft Show

Today’s show features vendors, crafts and baked goods. Proceeds help Girl Scout troops with their annual community service projects.
Bluffton University presents its 117th performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at 4 p.m. Sunday in Founders Hall on the Bluffton campus. The free performance will be conducted by Dr. Jon C. Peterson.
Bob Shelmadine’s Christmas
The home of Gomer’s long-time Santa, Bob Shelmadine, will be open Sunday for a one-day remembrance of Shelmadine. The home is now the location of the Gomer Welsh Museum, across from the Gomer United Church of Christ.
Cookie Walk/Vendor Sale
The Spencerville Summerfest hosts this fundraiser for its 2013 firework display. The walk is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the VFW.
The Christmas cantata, “Seasons of Wonder,” will be performed at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Pandora United Methodist Church, 108 E. Washington St., Pandora.

The Van Wert County 4-H Interstate Exchange Group will host this fourth annual drive-through light show. $5 per vehicle, use the Gate 5 entrance on Fox Road. The light show goes on 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays through Sundays through Christmas Day.

Annual event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. weekends through Dec. 26. Special events include horse-drawn wagon rides 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 15. Annual Luminary Memorial Service will be after 9 p.m. Dec. 23. Memorials are $20 each until Dec. 7. $5 per vehicle.

Healing Memories Candlelight Memorial Service

The sixth annual hour-long event starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday and will include music by the hand-bell choir and organist, as well as a candlelight service and photos of deceased loved ones.
Town Hall Christmas/Animals of the Nativity
More than 100 decorated trees on display at the Mendon Town Hall, and live animals at the old Mendon Firehouse from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. $1 for the Festival of Trees, but free for 12 and younger if accompanied by an adult. Also on Friday, Santa Claus will visit. Saturday events include horse-drawn carriage rides and vendor displays.

A quarter-scale train takes passengers past holiday lights and decorations on weekends through Dec. 30. Also, there are HO and Lionel train layouts and a museum. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 5 to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 5 to 8 p.m. Sundays through Dec. 30. $2 adults, $1 for 12 and younger; free for active duty service members and their families with proof of DOD identification.
McKinnis House by Candlelight
