OTTAWA — It’s good food, good drinks and good entertainment on tap at this year’s 10th annual Tri-County Rhythm and Ribfest, going on Saturday at the Putnam County Fairgrounds.

“When you’re talking Ribfests any more, people are talking about ours,” said Dereck Meyer of the Ottawa-Glandorf Jaycees, who join with First Federal Bank to sponsor the event.

“Our target number of rib vendors is six, and I think we should have six this year,” Meyer said. “And, because this is our 10th anniversary, we tried to spice up the event in a few different ways. Last year we offered a wine tasting that was popular, so this year we’ve got multiple vendors participating in that,” Meyer said.

Cost for the wine tasting is $2 for a sample glass. Bottles of wine will also be available for purchase to carry home but not open on premises. Meanwhile, beverages in the beer tent are $3.

The popular car show will again be offered. “The Four Deuces Car Club runs that, and it’s always good,” Meyer said. There will also be cornhole tournaments, rides, and give-aways.

“And this year, because it’s our 10th anniversary, we’ve got special entertainment coming. Mustang Sally will be here for the late concert. They played for the first two years of our festival, and they’re still playing a lot in Put-in-Bay and they’re still popular. We also have another popular band, the Indoorfins, playing our earlier concert,” Meyer said.

Yet it’s the ribs that continue to take center stage at this festival. There are judging contests, people choice awards, and the rib eating contests.

“It’s a good time. We figure we have thousands of people throughout the day visit us here, and we figure on about 4,000 for the concerts at night,” Meyer said.
