LIMA — Jazz up your night and listen to the sounds of Kick-n-Flava as they bring their hot jazz sounds to the hot house at DeHaven’s Home and Garden Showplace on Saturday.
“Kick-N-Flava are out of Dayton, and Mike Baker had them booked this summer for a Rally in the Square. There was lousy weather the night they performed, so very few people got a chance to hear them. Those of us who did hear them loved their sound, and knew they were perfect for Jazz at the Greenhouse,” said Kay VanMeter, associate manager at ArtSpace/Lima, which along with the host venue sponsors this fifth annual fundraiser.
“They will start off playing jazz, and then later in the evening they will do some of their Motown sounds so people can get out there and dance,” VanMeter said.
Free appetizers will be provided by Vivace Cafe, a cash bar will be open, and door prizes given.
“One of the best things about this night is that the DeHaven family is so very generous to allow us use of this beautiful greenhouse. We decorate it for the holidays, and it’s just gorgeous in there,” VanMeter said. “You know, this event is so special because you’re in that nice warm greenhouse, and all the warmth of the night just flows,” she added.
Proceeds from the annual event support programs at ArtSpace/Lima.
“This is what pays the light bills and helps keep the place open so we can bring in these wonderful exhibits for people to see, all free,” Van Meter added.
