VAN WERT — Ernie Haase and Signature Sound are bringing their signature sound to town on Sunday for a 7 p.m. concert at Niswonger Performing Arts Center.
“We do anticipate selling out for this concert,” said Tafi Stober, marketing director for Niswonger. “Ernie brings an uplifting concert to town that’s just full of joy. In today’s world, things can get so negative, but the message Ernie and Signature Sound bring is always encouraging and uplifting. It’s a good event for the entire family."
In fact, the group is expected to perform a few numbers from their “Glorious Day” CD, which is scheduled to be released in early April. And that will be added to the repertoire of already popular music which has brought audiences out for the 10-consecutive years they have toured through this area.
In fact, since forming in 2003, the southern-gospel quartet has not missed one year of performing in the Lima area. During that time, the group has released 17 albums and eight DVDs, featuring a variety of Christian artists.
Leading the group is Ernie Haase, who got his professional start singing tenor with the popular Christian quartet, The Cathedrals. After that group disbanded, Haase found some like-minded singers and formed Signature Sound.
In the decade since, they have received numerous awards, including the Dove Award and the Southern Gospel Album of the Year for “Get Away Jordan.” They have also received accolades for “Reason Enough” and “Dream On.”
