LIMA — An art exhibit and auction like no other will be offered by the Lima Exchange Club when it hosts its annual gala today at St. Gerard Parish Hall.
“We will have 150 pieces for auction,” said Jacob Elrod of the Exchange Club. “And one of the great things about this auction is that everything is framed and ready to hang. People don’t have to spend another $80 or so for framing. And these frames are spectacular."
As always, there are specialty pieces this year.
“We have between five and 10 pieces by John Stanisci of Marvel and DC Comics. He has signed some of these and they’re just wonderful pieces, full of depth and detail. Included in those are original watercolors of Spiderman and Batman,” Elrod said.
There are also favorite works by Leroy Neiman, Jane Woostet Scott, Thomas Kinkade, Guido Borelli, Kim Lui and Marc Chagall. Additionally, there are original oils, sculptures and lithographs. Many are hand-signed, plate signed and numbered.
There is even an electric guitar from Pink Floyd, signed by the group.
“And, we have five or six pieces from the ArtAbility Studios,” Elrod said.
All auction items come with an open reserve price. “We’re not here to play games. We start the bidding with what the piece is worth,” Elrod said.
Ticket prices include wine tastings and desserts.
And with the exception of the ArtAbility pieces, proceeds from the sale benefit child abuse prevention.
“This is one of Exchange Club’s biggest events. We always draw a good crowd and it’s a fun time for a good cause. Even if you have plenty of art in your home, a lot of people come to swap out the old with some new. This just gives everyone something new to fall in love with.”
