LIMA — Grab your significant other and head downtown to the City Club, where a new event, a Sweetheart Jazz Fest, kicks off at 8 p.m. Saturday.
“This is the first time the HY HO Club and the AKA Sorority have ever collaborated, and we did it on this event. We think this will be a nice evening,” said Brenda Frazier, president of the HY HO Club. The collaboration was a natural since both groups share many members.
“We wanted to do something fun, and this seemed like a good time of year, and a good event to host,” Frazier said.
Indeed, the evening will include jazz by The Raven, Charles Thomas. The jazz group Divine Information had been scheduled to perform, but a health emergency forced them to cancel and Thomas agreed to fill the spot.
“The Raven is good, and we are inviting people to come down and relax and listen to some good jazz,” Frazier said.
Along with the jazz, there will be light refreshments served, and a cash bar.
Dress is casual but stylish. “We want this to be something nice, something fun for people to do,” Frazier said.
Proceeds from the event will be divided between the two sponsoring groups for scholarships both groups offer.
