LIMA ‚?? There‚??s a lot to celebrate this year in Lima, and that‚??s why promoters believe this year‚??s Toast to the City will be the best offering ever.

‚??Lima is really roaring back downtown. There are new restaurants and new businesses and quite a bit of change just in the last few years. There are a lot of reasons to raise a glass to the progress,‚?Ě said Diane Peterson Rogers, who along with Sherry Krouse is planning this year‚??s festivity, which is a kick-off and fundraiser for the annual Square Fair.

‚??We have 17 restaurants and caterers that will be participating, which is way more than ever. I think in the past our top has been 12, so this is incredible,‚?Ě Rogers said. And to accompany the food there will be a selection of fine wines and a variety of beers.

But restaurants aren‚??t the only businesses ready to shine.

Entertainment will be by the Cap City Rockers and guitarist Brian Henke.

But still, there‚??s more.

‚??ArtSpace will be represented by Ruth Ann Sturgill, who is painting a colorful 36-by-36-inch piece. Encore Theatre will have costumed-performers showing people to their seats. The Lima Symphony Orchestra will have members performing as they stroll among the crowds. Alter Ego Comics will have Stormtroopers mixing in the crowd. So much will be going on,‚?Ě Rogers said.

Still, there‚??s more.

‚??We have so many businesses participating in some way. And really, that‚??s what the toast should be about. Celebrating a vibrant regrowth in the community,‚?Ě Rogers said.
