Bertie B. Wheeler, 76, died at 12:45 a.m. Nov. 29, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born Dec. 2, 1932, in Holgate to Robert and Gertrude Andrews Wheeler, who preceded him in death. He married Della Marie Wright, who died in 1968.
Mr. Wheeler retired from Campbell Soup Co. in Napoleon on Feb. 1, 1996. He attended Dupont Church of the Brethren, Dupont. He helped many organizations by selling tickets to help raise money for their causes.
Survivors include a son, Rick (Julie) Wheeler, of Atlanta; three daughters, Carolyn (Gary) Schnipke, of Defiance, Mary (Jimmy) Stephey, of Oakwood, and Betty Wheeler, of Cloverdale; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Zickafoose; and two brothers, Ted and Donald Wheeler.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Continental. Pastor Terry Porter will officiate. Burial will be in Cascade Cemetery, Cloverdale.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
