Melvin N. Warniment

New Cleveland - Melvin N. Warniment, 83, died at 10:51 p.m. Dec. 11, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Defiance to Cornelius and Stella Brecht Warniment. On June 7, 1947, he married Rose Ann Kuhlman, who died May 1, 1998.

Mr. Warniment was retired from Louisana-Pacific/Weatherseal, Ottawa. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, New Cleveland and its Holy Aid. He was a World War II Army Veteran and a member of the Ottawa Eagles, a life member of Ottawa American Legion and the Miller City Sportsman’s Club.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Shirley) Warniment, of Ottawa and Melvin (Deborah) Warniment, of Leipsic; a daughter, Bonnie (Donald) Zierolf, of Maumee; 8 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Warniment, a sister, Violetta Kuhbander; and two great-grandsons, Griffin Warniment and Kenyon Zierolf.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in New Cleveland. Father Robert DeSloover will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Rites by the Ottawa American Legion and the Ottawa Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Love Funeral Home in Ottawa. A scripture service will begin at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
