Olen F. Walters, 92, died at 4:39 p.m. Feb. 6, 2011, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

He was born July 3, 1918, in Van Wert to Olen and Cora Thurman Walters Sr., who preceded him in death. He married Rozella Lansing, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Walters was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a farmer and retired from the Lima Tank Plant. He had also been a bus driver for Allen County Transit Authority for several years, worked for the Ohio State Highway Department for five years, was a machinist at Ex-Cell-O Corp., Lima, and was a security officer for Nationwide Security at the Northland Plaza. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 19, Lima, and American Legion Post 395, Waynesfield. He had been a member of the Allen Soil & Conservation District. He was a 1936 graduate of Waynesfield High School.

Survivors include a son, Mark Walters, of Harrod; two daughters, Ruby Kenton, of Spencerville, and Nancy (Brent) Pheneger, of Lima; a sister, JoAnne Harrod, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Billy Motter, Anita Motter, Brad Maroney, Chad Maroney and Matthew Pheneger; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Burd; a brother, Gordon Walters; and two sisters, June Bowman and Evelyn Shaw.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield. Pastor Ernest Plemmons will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
