Stella W. Wagner

North Creek - Stella W. Wagner, 100, died at 9:55 a.m. Oct. 16, 2009, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.

She was born Aug. 6, 1909, in Putnam County to John and Edith Johnson Brown. On Oct. 8, 1929, she married Virgil Wagner, who died June 3, 1983.

Mrs. Wagner was a homemaker and had owned and operated a store in North Creek for 49 years. She had also been a secretary for the North Creek Telephone Co. for 37 years. She had been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, North Creek, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City. She loved to garden, make noodles, crochet, watch baseball and play cards and bingo.

Survivors include a son, Melvin (Eileen) Wagner, of Miller City; a daughter-in-law, Flo Wagner, of Miller City; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard Brown, of Leipsic; and a sister-in-law, Henrietta Brown, of Leipsic.

She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Wagner; two brothers, Albert and Nelson Brown; a grandson, David Wagner; and a great-grandson, Kyle Wagner.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Miller City. Father Robert DeSloover will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Creek.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a Scripture service will be held at 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam Acres Care Center.
