Dolores L. Verhoff, 77, died at 10:51 a.m. Nov. 17, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 20, 1932, in Continental to William and Anna Averesch Wolke, who preceded her in death. On June 11, 1952, she married Leonard Verhoff, who survives in Cuba, Ohio.
Mrs. Verhoff was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida, and its Altar Rosary Society and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She had been a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Cuba, Ohio, and its Altar Rosary Society. She was a member of American Legion Post 541 Auxiliary, Continental, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed helping with the St. Clements Church Strawberry Festival in Florida. She loved to cook, play cards with friends, paint and collect angels. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include six sons, Roger (Dorothy) Verhoff and Daniel (Barbara) Verhoff, both of Continental, Robert (Kathleen) Verhoff, of Ottawa, Edward (Marge) Verhoff, of Kalida, Father Melvin Verhoff, of Delphos, and Joseph (Kathleen) Verhoff, of Kalida; three daughters, Elaine (Jack) Ewald, of West Union, Patricia (Douglas) Lammers, of Miller City, and Diane Verhoff, of Findlay; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irleen Siebeneck, of Leipsic.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Anna Verhoff; three brothers, Elmer, Hilarius and Marcellinus Wolke; and three sisters, Margaret Maag, Roselia Wolke and Agnes Wyant.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Kalida. Father Melvin Verhoff, her son, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Isidore Cemetery, Cuba, Ohio.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where an American Legion Auxiliary service will be held at 5 p.m. today and a Scripture service at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Rita’s Medical Center, Susan G. Komen Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
