Martha E. Tucker, 87, died at 1:10 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009, at the Lima Convalescent Home.
She was born Sept. 11, 1922, in Thomas, Okla., to Lorenzo and Polly Miller Schlabach, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 25, 1945, she married Gerald Tucker, who died April 13, 2002.
Mrs. Tucker was a member of Pike Mennonite Church, Elida, and its Ladies Sewing Circle and had been the church librarian. She was a seamstress and enjoyed flower gardening and sewing. She had been manager of JoAnn Fabrics at the Lima Mall and Eastgate for 22 years.
Survivors include two sons, Loren (Linda) Tucker, of Elida, and Harold (Marilyn) Tucker, of Lima; a daughter, Gloria Weldy, of Elida; four brothers, Paul Slabaugh, of Quakertown, Pa., Timothy Schlabach, of Milford, Del., Titus Schlabach, Greenwood, Del., and Fred (Barbara) Schlabach, of Seaford, Del.; a sister, Pollyanna (John) Eby, of Belleville, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Jeffery (Maria) Weldy, Kevin (Danielle) Tucker, Rodney (Tina) Tucker, DeVon (Alison) Tucker, Jason Tucker, Amanda Weldy, Jerry Tucker and Joseph (Brittany) Tucker; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Lloyd and Evangel Schlabach; and a sister, Mary Bender.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pike Mennonite Church, Elida. The Rev. Glenn Rader will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday, all at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pike Mennonite Church library.
