SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Austin Stolly’s bat sizzled and Trevor Kottenbrock’s arm froze Riverdale batters as Lima Central Catholic’s baseball team beat Riverdale 10-0 in a five-inning game in a Division III sectional semifinal game at Shawnee on Saturday.

LCC (14-4) will take on Northwest Conference rival and top-seeded Bluffton at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Shawnee in a sectional final.

Stolly finished the game 3-for-3 with a triple, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored for the T-Birds while Kottenbrock pitched a 2-hit shutout, allowing 1 walk and striking out 4. Cody McCullough doubled and had 2 RBIs and Billy Taflinger swatted a double.

Division I

Bowling Green 2, Lima Senior 1

BOWLING GREEN — The Spartans battled but fell short to host Bowling Green in a sectional semifinal. Kendall Jackson singled in a run for Lima Senior (6-13). BG’s Doug McKinney struck out 10, walked 3 and allowed 1 hit.

Division II

St. Marys, Elida suspended

ELIDA — St. Marys led Elida 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth before rain suspended the sectional semifinal game at Elida. The game is slated to be finished at 4:30 p.m. Monday. The winner takes on top-seeded Wapakoneta at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Elida.

Division IV

Spencerville 3, Ottoville 1

CONVOY — The Bearcats scored 3 runs in the top of the 10th inning to win the nail-biter and survive the first round of the sectional tournament. Spencerville will play the Fort Jennings/Wayne Trace winner at 5 p.m. Friday at Crestview. Fort Jennings/Wayne Trace was postponed to 4 p.m. Monday.

Matt Youngpeter had 3 singles for Spencerville, Cory Rieman had 2 singles and 2 RBIs and Garret Croft singled twice. Kasey Lee got the win. For Ottoville, Aaron Wehri singled and doubled, Travis Maag doubled, Austin Markward singled twice and Jacob Turnwald had 2 singles and an RBI.

Antwerp 3, Lincolnview 2

CONVOY — Antwerp held off Lincolnview to advance to the sectional finals. Antwerp will play top-seeded host Crestview at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the finals. Kyle Williams doubled twice for Lincolnview, Clayton Longstreth doubled and had an RBI. Taylor Hoehn pitched a solid game in the loss, giving up 3 runs and walking none.

Pandora-Gilboa 11, Miller City 1

COLUMBUS GROVE — Abe Basinger picked up his first win of the season as Pandora-Gilboa downed Miller City in a sectional semifinal at Columbus Grove. The Rockets (3-10) will play top-seeded and unbeaten Leipsic in the sectional championship at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Basinger (1-2) went all five innings and allowed a run on 2 hits with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Brent Hermiller suffered the loss as he went 31/3 innings. Pandora-Gilboa’s Josh Breece homered and doubled driving in five runs. Reed Hovest also homered and added a single with two RBIs, Levi Hovest had a double and two singles with an RBI for the Rockets. Cody Dukes doubled and singled for Miller City (7-10).

Regular Season

Shawnee, Russia split

RUSSIA — Shawnee opened its doubleheader at Russia with a 4-0 victory. Trey Runneals doubled for the Indians (12-9) while Jared Dupes got the pitching win. In the second game, Russia won 6-5. Cory Wilder doubled twice for Shawnee and Runneals smacked a home run.

Division III

Coldwater 4, Liberty-Benton 3

ELIDA — Kiya Dues smashed a solo shot for Coldwater and will take on Paulding at 5 p.m. Monday at Elida in the sectional finals. Larissa Goubeaux doubled for Coldwater (9-11) and Amanda Post got a win in the circle.

Division IV

Perry 24, USV 0

SPENCERVILLE — Perry’s offense pounded 10 hits and pitcher Abbie Patton allowed just 2 hits in the five-inning sectional final. Perry advances to the district semifinal at Elida where the Commodores (17-1) will face the Kalida/Lincolnview winner at 5 p.m. May 18. Patton struck out 13 and walked 1 and was 2-for-5 at the plate with a double. Lydia Rettig was 2-for-5 with a double, Megan Patton tripled and Sarah Bough was 2-for-4.

Kalida 10, Delphos Jefferson 0

LINCOLNVIEW — Emily Schnipke pitched a complete game shutout in the five-inning game as Kalida advanced to the sectional finals. Kalida will play Lincolnview at 5 p.m. Monday.

Schnipke walked 2 and struck out 6, allowing 2 hits in the win. Julia Vandemark was 3-for-3 and Kaylyn Verhoff was 2-for-2 with 3 runs scored for Kalida.

Allen East 5, Spencerville 1

SPENCERVILLE — Kayla Crow struck out 6 and allowed just 1 hit and no walks to lead the Mustangs (5-12) in the sectional semifinal at Spencerville. Allen East will meet Ada at 5 p.m. Monday in the sectional finals at Spencerville. Crow doubled and went 2-for-4 at the plate, Leah Roberson was 2-for-4. Alyssa Mulholland was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Spencerville (2-15) while Haley Mull tripled.

Continental 16, Ottoville 1

LINCOLNVIEW — Leva Weller pitched all five innings and allowed just 2 hits from the circle, then doubled, homered and had 6 RBIs from the plate as Continental moved into the sectional finals. The Pirates (4-7) will play Crestview at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Lincolnview in the final. Stephanie Burke homered, singled and had 3 RBIs for Continental and Whitney Ellerbrock was 2-for-2. Krista Schimmoeller and Paige Lucas were each 1-for-2 for Ottoville.

Tennis

LCC 4, Bishop Fenwick 1

MIDDLETOWN — Alex Swick, Michael Frankart and Julian Schaper each won in singles play to help LCC improve to 9-5. Sean Daley and Doug Sodders won at second doubles for the T-Birds.
