Long-Term Recovery Committee thanks all for their help

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Rev. STEVE ELDERBROCK, Ottawa

The Spiritual & Emotional Health Committee of Putnam County Long-Term Recovery Task Force would like to thank those who attended and helped to make the Community Flood Anniversary Celebration on Sunday a success. We had more than 350 people in attendance to enjoy worship, fellowship and food, and our special offering for flood victims in Iowa raised more than $1,635.

Special thanks to these groups and organizations: Rotary Club, Lions Club; Ottawa Fire Department; Glandorf Fire Department; Wal-Mart; McDonald's; The Meadows of Glandorf; Benchmark, directed by Dave Crawfis; Ottawa-Glandorf Senior High show choir, directed by Ted Ellerbrock; Ottawa Community Band, directed by Fred Nordhaus; Ottawa-Glandorf Junior High Alumni Jazz Band, directed by Paul Baransy; Jodi Warnecke and the Putnam County Council on Aging; Bob Williams and Pathways Counseling Center; the Rev. George Zornow; Linda Pollitz; Jim Rump; New Creation Lutheran Church and Pastor Ken Pollitz; Trinity United Methodist Church and Pastor Lynda Lockwood; and Ottawa Presbyterian Church and Pastor Steve Elderbrock.

We've come a long way in one year, but much more recovery work remains to be done. With God's help, and helping each other, we can and will rise above the flood waters of August and February to become a better and stronger community.

From the editor: Many of you have expressed concerns about some of the harsh anonymous comments from readers. To remedy that, we are introducing new features. You can create your own blog, publish your news and share your photos with the community. Once you fill out a simple form and leave a verifiable e-mail address, you can set up your profile page. It will display all of your contributions and allow you to track issues and easily connect with others.

We want our site to be a place where people discuss and debate ideas that foster stronger communities. We built this for you. Please take care of it. Tolerate broad thinking, but take action against obscene or hateful material. Make it a credible and safe place worth preserving and sharing.
