Letter: Mercy not necessary with worst criminals

It nearly turned my stomach to read “Killing Them Softly” about how some crazy people worry about how convicted rapists and killers die. (Saturday). Why should anyone care as long as they are removed from this earth and punished for what they’ve done?
I had a young relative raped, murdered and dismembered a few years ago. Did the guy get executed? Of course not. How can this be going on? Anyone who is evil enough to commit these crimes deserves to be gotten rid of any way available even if it’s to hang them by their toes till they’re dead. They earned it.
