Soldier would spend another 30 years in service
November 11, 2009 10:07 AM
I spent my high school senior trip on my way to Vietnam (1968-75). I was stationed all over Vietnam but the most conflict was the day we were told to take a hill no matter what the cost; the Army has more. In six days, we took this muddy, steep hill. When we finally reached the top, which took a long and stressful six days, we named the hill Hamburger Hill. We named it this for all the brave young men who fought, died, became wounded and came away with God’s loving hand protecting us. To our fellow screaming eagles buddies who came home alive, those who were wounded, or the ones who died defending the most precious things to us — the red, white and blue. because our legend of 101st A.B. Special Forces lives on forever. Welcome home, soldiers.
I believe the two-year draft should be a mandatory issue at the age of 18. The twoyear military experience never hurt anyone. Then maybe our crime rates would decrease from year to year. I love America. I am very proud of our red, white and blue. I would do another 30 years of military service, no matter what the cost.
I have lasting effects from Agent Orange from being in Vietnam.
