Soldier didn't feel support of Vietnamese

‘I think the South Vietnamese were relieved when we left.'

I served in Vietnam with the American Division from 1970-1971 in a light weapons infantry company. We operated off of Fire Support Base Debbie located in Duc Pho.

My experience in Vietnam probably was not much different than others that served there. I never felt we had the support of the very people we were sent to defend. I think the South Vietnamese were relieved when we left. Perhaps if we would have had their support, the Vietnam War would have turned out differently.

America and her military are the greatest and most powerful in the world. I am blessed to live here and have served.
