Margaret C. Smith

Columbus Grove

Margaret C. Smith, 91, died at 12:50 a.m. Nov. 26, 2009, at Richland Manor Nursing Home, near Beaverdam.

She was born June 23, 1918, near Vaughnsville to Joseph and Veronica Martin Schumacher, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 17, 1939, she married Clinton R. Smith, who died Nov. 7, 1999.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Columbus Grove, and of the Followers Church School Class. She loved to sew clothes and to quilt.

Survivors include three sons, Dennis D. (Evelyn) Smith and Gregory G. (Linda) Smith, both of Lima, and Shawn E. (Amy) Smith, of Tavares, Fla.; a daughter, Shannon L. (Larry) Johnson-Blom, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two brothers, Alvin L. (Bonnie) Schumacher and C. Martin (Betty) Schumacher, both of Columbus Grove; and four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Jean; three brothers, Norbert J., Vincent L. and Gilbert W. Schumacher; and three sisters, Alberta L. Goudy, Salome S. Ladden and Donelda H. Smith.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Gary Ginter will officiate. Burial will be in Campbell Cemetery, near Columbus Grove.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Grove United Methodist Church.
