Estella E. Sipe

Estella E. Sipe, 90, died at 11:10 p.m. July 26, 2010, at the residence of her niece, Tonda Ricker, who was her caregiver.

She was born July 21, 1920, in Putnam County to Harry M. and Erma Ladd Myers, who preceded her in death. On May 12, 1945, she married Harold E. Sipe, who died July 3, 1972.

Mrs. Sipe was a 1936 graduate of Ottoville High School. She was a beautician for 65 years. She had owned the Venus Beauty Shop, which she sold, and continued to do hair at Westgate House of Style and New Creations. She was the proud owner of a green thumb and loved to garden. She was a wonderful cook and was very crafty. She like to quilt, crochet, knit, embroider and design hats. She was a musician, playing the organ and violin, and would entertain you with her harmonica. She enjoyed playing music of her canaries. She was a member of First Church of God at the Cross Roads. She has now gone to meet her savior.

Survivors include five sisters, Mabel (Skippy) Armentrout, of Delphos, Pauline Ballinger, of Lima, Martha Herzog, of Elida, Margie Myers, of Phoenix, and Katherine Rosselit, of Ottawa; and several nieces and nephews, including her caregiver, Tonda (Jack) Ricker, of Fort Jennings.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Darrell Richard Sipe, who died in 1946; three brothers, Kenneth “Dick”, Harry Jr. and Forrest (Vern) Myers; a sister, Thelma Seimet.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Whitman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
