Dallas H. Ruckel, 86, died at 7:17 a.m. Nov. 30, 2009, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Clarks Hill, Ind., to Lloyd and Edna Long Ruckel, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 25, 1959, he married Betty M. Fisher, who survives.
Mr. Ruckel had been an engineer at Nickel Plate Road. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the National Rifle Association and the United Transportation Union. He loved gardening.
Survivors also include a daughter, Hannah M. (Terry) Plaugher, of Oswego, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Timothy and Nathan Plaugher; and a brother, Kenneth Ruckel, of Thorntown, Ind.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Burkhalter and Susie Hanlon.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Gary Hohman will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
