Robert T. Rhine, 75, of LaPorte, Ind., formerly of Lima, died Jan. 23, 2012, at Golden Living Center Fountainview.

He was born June 10, 1936, in Lima to Kenneth and Mary Ann Horstman Rhine, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 7, 1965, in Lima, he married Jacqueline R. Lincoln, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Rhine had been a production supervisor at Bonnie Bakery then Bunny Bakery. He was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School and the American Institute of Baking, Chicago. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, LaPorte, Ind., for many years, where he was involved in choir, volunteer work and was a Eucharist minister. He was an Air Force veteran serving from June 19, 1957, to June 18, 1963. He enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball and he loved fishing.

Survivors include two daughters, Tracy A. (Jeffery) Stayback, of Rolling Prairie, Ind., and Carrie (Samuel) Walker, of LaPorte, Ind.; two sons, Robert L. (Julia) Rhine, of Cincinnati, and Jon A. Rhine, of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Ashley Duerr, of Kennesaw, Ga., Arianna Rhine, Jacey Rhine and Avarie Rhine, all of Cincinnati, and Kylee and Kaleb Walker, of LaPorte, Ind.; four brothers, Kenneth H. Rhine, Gerald E. Rhine and David A. Rhine, all of Lima, and Paul M. Rhine, of Waldo; and two sisters, Wanda (Rhine) Ickes, of Fort Recovery, and Rose Rhine Snyder, of Leipsic.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina M. Duerr; and two brothers, Richard and Walter Rhine.

Services will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Service, LaPorte, Ind., with military rites. Father Ian Williams will officiate.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 130 Bach St., LaPorte, IN 46350.
