Note progress in military vehicles between photos

84-year-comparison from 1944-45 during World War II and retired in 1956 as a major. In 1925, all were members of Company G, 148th Infantry, of the Ohio Army National Guard. In comparison, the top photo, at right, was taken in May 2009 at Joint Forces Air Base Balad in Iraq. Pictured (from left) are: Senior Airman James Nerswick; Maj. Bryan P. Moore and Capt. Rob Skrobak. All are attached to the 123rd Air Control Squadron (Ohio Air National Guard) in Blue Ash, Ohio. Note the progress in military vehicles between the two photos. The right photo shows a version of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle. I believe that some of the component parts of these MRAP vehicles may be manufactured by Joint Systems Manufacturing Center here in Lima. These armored vehicles have a track record of providing a much greater degree of protection for our military personnel from roadside IED’s placed by enemy forces. Bryan is a grandson of Harold (in above photo) and the son of Bill and Pat Moore of Lima. Since 1997, Major Moore has served deployments in Kuwait (2); Saudi Arabia; Afghanistan and Iraq. He is a graduate of Lima Senior High School and Bowling Green State University 9 Det. 620, AFROTC). He is married to his wife, Susan, and they have four children.

The top left photo was taken at Camp Perry, Ohio, probably in 1925. Pictured (left to right) are Pvt. Louis E. Moore; and unidentified T/Sgt.; Pvt. Herb “Bob” Stein; and Sgt. Richard “Harold” Moore. Louis and Harold were from Lima and were brothers. Louis stayed in the Army, was later a POW in Germany

Bill Moore served in Korea with the U.S.

Air Force from November 1952 to October 1953.
