    Lima

    Richard Harold Poling, 73, died at 4:29 p.m. Nov. 29, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.

    He was born March 7, 1936, in Lima to Pearl Lewis and Lucy Lavina VanMeter Poling, who preceded him in death. On March 30, 1959, he married Jane Jacomet, who died Jan. 23, 2009.

    Mrs. Poling retired as a block repairman from Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant, after 42 years. He was an Army veteran. He loved to fish, hunt and visit the casinos.

    Survivors include six children. Donna McGuire, David Poling, Doreen (Stephen) Meihls, Dennis Poling, Annette (Roger) Tippie and Patricia Poling, all of Lima; a stepdaughter, Tammy (Jerry) Harrod, of Waynesfield; and 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Fern Poling, Rosie Zuppardo, Lena Dick, Betty Good, David Hullinger and David and Bud Poling.

    Services will begin at noon Thursday at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Bayliff will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.

    Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
