Paul F. “Frankie” Reinhart, 90, formerly of New Hampshire, Ohio, died the afternoon of Sept. 1, 2009, while mowing at his farm in New Hampshire, Ohio.
He was born March 14, 1919, in Sante Fe to Herman and Taura Brackney Reinhart, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 18, 1944, he married Eileen M. Jackson, who survives.
Mr. Reinhart was a longtime farmer. He a 1937 graduate of Lakeview High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater, where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for valor. He was a trustee for Goshen Township from 1947 to 1965, and an Auglaize County commissioner from 1966 to 1983. He also served on the Elections Board, the Fair Board, Veterans Service Commission and the Airport Authority, all in Auglaize County. He served 60 years on the Republican Central Committee. He attended the New Hampshire United Methodist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 330 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, both in Wapakoneta. He had been a member of the Wapakoneta Country Club, the New Hampshire Lions Club and the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1170, Wapakoneta. He enjoyed golfing, watching his grandsons sporting events, mowing grass at the farm and breakfast at McDonald’s in Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include two sons, Dennis Reinhart, of Cincinnati, and Douglas (Trudie) Reinhart, of Wapakoneta; three grandchildren, Shelly (Lt. Col. James) Howard, of Japan, Lucas Reinhart and Matthew Reinhart, bot of Columbus; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Brady Howard; and a sister, Maxine Cockrine, of Morrow.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel (Howard) Butler, Mary (Frank) Veit, and Mildred (Mac) Rinehart; and four brothers, Kenneth, Carl (Mary), Roger and Lee Reinhart.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. Pastor Jean Horn will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, Ohio, with military rites by VFW Post 8445.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services to services Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Auglaize Acres Nursing Home, Wapakoneta, or New Hampshire United Methodist Church.
