‘Land of the free’
Comments 0 | Recommend 0It’s a nice slogan, Sen. Padgett; maybe you should live up to it
If state Sen. Joy Padgett, R-Coshocton, has her way, retailers could be fined up to $500 and jailed for up to 60 days for the outrageous act of ... selling flags.
Padgett has introduced a bill to bar the sale in Ohio of U.S. and Ohio flags not made in the United States. Never mind that all kinds of consumer goods are imported or that American shoppers demand low prices, and many items can be made at a lower cost elsewhere.
Ohioans - and all Americans - are perfectly capable of deciding whether to buy their flags from a domestic maker or a foreign one. Perhaps Padgett needs a refresher on that "land of the free" concept.
