Ottoville
Alvera W. Koester, 89, died at 8:40 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008, at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, Columbus.
She was born Sept. 18, 1919, in Ottoville to Gus and Bernadine Boecker, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 13, 1941, she married Richard Koester, who died Jan. 7, 1998.
Mrs. Koester had been an assistant cook at Sara Jane Chambers Nursing Home, Delphos. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and its Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed woodworking with her husband, reading and traveling.
Survivors include a son, Terry (Sue) Koester, of Rimer; two daughters, Janice (Bob) Etzkorn, of Delphos, and Sharon Wannemacher, of Ottoville; and six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Obringer and LaDonna Miller; a brother, Arthur Boecker.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Father John Stites will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ottoville.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, where a Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital.
