A special woman gone, not forgotten
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Florence Ella Watkins was indeed a special woman. For those who didn't know, she volunteered five days a week at Our Daily Bread soup kitchen on Central Street.
She volunteered in the dining room, where out of respect, she was known as Mrs. Watkins. She interacted with the patrons and other staff on a daily basis.
She died May 3 at the beautiful age of 81. Her family shared her with those of us at the soup kitchen for seven years. We want them to know how much we appreciated her volunteering her time to help us, and her family for sharing her with us.
Rest on, Mrs. Watkins, and take your rest. We loved you but God loved you best.
