Lawrence Ervin Novean

St. Marys

Lawrence Ervin Novean, 93, died at 5:15 p.m. Jan. 16, 2009, at Otterbein-St, Marys.

He was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Rush Lake, Wis., to Ervin Elmer and Elsie Mary Priest Novean Miller, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 28, 1939, he married Virginia Floreine Widau, who died Sept. 24, 1999.

Mr. Novean was a 1934 graduate of Berlin High School, Berlin, Wis. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served during World War II. He had worked at the Arthur Waleter Seed Co., in Grand Ridge, Ill. He owned the first Dairy Queen n Troy and retired from Stamco Inc., New Bremen. He enjoyed boating and visiting with family and friends. He was the kind of man who didn't know a stranger.

Survivors include two children, Larry (Jane) Novean, of New Knoxville, and Nancy (Leo) Goodwin, of Union City, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Michelle (John) Schlicher, Kristin Miracle, Kelly Goodwin, Sarah (Mark) Lagenmen, Michael (Gretta) Novean and James Godwin; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Kammerer of West Bend, Wis.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Miles Novean, and a sister, Dorothy Burghart.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. The Rev. David A. Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Radio Broadcast Fund of the First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville or the Arthritis Foundation.
