Lima Schools made a difference
Comments 0 | Recommend 0 I am a Lima resident, a graduate of Lima Senior, a mother
of current and former Lima Senior students, and a property owner and taxpayer.
I urge you to vote yes on the renewal levy that will be on the Nov. 4 ballot.
The renewal will not cost you any additional money. The
school system depends on local taxes for 19 percent of its general fund.
Passage of this renewal levy shows that our community stands behind our school
system, which is an integral part of our community. A city that is not willing
to support its local schools will have a hard time attracting new businesses and
an even harder time retaining its own property values.
My daughter, who started college four weeks ago, was
telling me about her chemistry and math classes. She said, "Mom, a lot of
people are already getting lost, but this is information I learned last year in
high school." I am very proud to say that my children are receiving solid
educations in the Lima City Schools that prepare them for life.
Lima has reason to be proud of the significant
improvements made by Lima City Schools in the past few years. Please make it
possible to continue these gains by voting yes for the renewal on Nov. 4.
