National honor well deserved for Pandora man’s heroic efforts
Comments 0 | Recommend 0At a time when politics and bailouts are taking over the headlines, we welcomed the news that a Pandora resident was among 25 individuals nationwide who have been chosen as recipients of the Carnegie Medal.
The prestigious medal is awarded throughout the United States and Canada to those who risk their lives while saving or attempting to save the lives of others.
During the August 2007 flooding in Bluffton and Ottawa, Joshua Huffman entered the swift current of Riley Creek to save Seth L. Boroff and Judith A. Garrison from drowning. Seth, 11, was the passenger of a car driven by Garrison, 61, that was washed from a flooded roadway into an adjacent low-lying field, which also was flooded.
The heroic story of Joshua E. Huffman is deserving of national attention.
