Mary Lou McCourtie, 83, died Jan. 18, 2012, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Akron to Frederick Pfiefle and Lenora Flinn, who preceded her in death. On April 15, 1950, she married Alexander McCourtie, who died Sept. 26, 2004.
Mrs. McCourtie was a 1950 graduate of Akron City Hospital School of Nursing. She retired as a nurse and had worked in the emergency and recovery rooms at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, where she helped develop the diabetic support group and the cancer conference and headed the outreach department. She and her husband had enjoyed spending winters in Bradenton, Fla. She attended Faith Alliance Church, New Bremen.
Survivors include a son, Tim (Jean) McCourtie, of Lima; a daughter, Laurie (Charlie) Rohrer, of Celina; and four grandchildren, Alex McCourtie, of Columbus, Chad Rohrer, of St. Marys, and Todd Rohrer and Alicia Rohrer, both of Celina.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. The Rev. Thomas Sager will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Moulton.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
