Mary Lee Makley, 79, died at 4:05 p.m. Oct. 17, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born July 18, 1930, in Elida to Robert and Margaret Carder John, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 9, 1952, she married Robert L. Makley, who survives in Lima.
Mrs. Makley was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. She was a graduate of Elida High School, where she had been a majorette. She was a member of the Unfinished Miniature Kit Club. Her favorite hobby was making miniature dollhouses. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors also include a son, Randy J. (Wava) Makley, of Lima; three daughters, Cindy (Jim) Smith, Jill (Tom) Altenbach and Lisa (Mark) Altenbach, all of Lima; a sister-in-law, Beverly John, of Bluffton; a sister, Bonnie Vandermark, of Cairo; and 13 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby John; a sister, Norma Simerly; and a grandson, Joe Makley.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Father David Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
