James A. Makley, 55, died at 9:35 p.m. Feb. 7, 2012, at his residence.

He was born July 11, 1956, in Lima to William and Jane Makley, who preceded him in death. On March 18, 1976, he married Deb Stump, who survives in Elida.

Mr. Makley's true passion in life was seeking the Lord. He was dedicated to his family. He was the pastor at God's House on Allentown Road. He enjoyed being with his church family, whom he loved very much. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

Survivors also include six children, Shannon (Nate) Mailhot, of Elida, Josh (Amanda) Makley, of Lima, and Jamie Makley, Stephanie Makley, Zech Makley and Isaac Makley, all at home; a son-in-law, Brady (Tiffany) Emmons, of Elida; five grandchildren, Megan, Savannah, Cameron, Abby and Olivia; two brothers, Bill (Denise) Makley, of Australia, and Greg (Mindi) Makley, of Wapakoneta; three sisters, Carol (Dan) Drummer, of Baimbridge, Ga., and Susan Makley and Janie (Monty) Bradberry, both of Lima; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shawna Emmons.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Pete Dove will officiate. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
