Louise B. Rice, 82, died at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 20, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 21, 1927, in Duryea, Pa., to Joseph and Helen Zielinski Malikowski, who preceded her in death. On May 17, 1947, she married Harold B. Rice, who died July 15, 1987.
Mrs. Rice was a graduate of Duryea High School, Duryea, Pa., and received her bachelor’s degree from the Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business, Wyoming, Pa. She had been a secretary of school attendance for 20 yeas at South Gate High School in Michigan. She was a member of the Germania Club and American Legion Post 67 Auxiliary, Lincoln Park, Mich. She was a member of St. Hugh Catholic Church, South Gate, Mich. She had lived in Duryea, Pa., South Gate, Mich., Las Vegas, and Columbia, S.C. She had been living at Otterbein Retirement Community, Cridersville, and Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, Spencerville.
Survivors include a son, Gregory A. (Rita) Rice, of Elgin, S.C.; a daughter, Bonnie (Mike) Furlong, of Spencerville; five grandchildren, Brad (Kim) McPhee, of Garden, Mich., Amy (Scott) Int-Hout, of Engadine, Mich., Windy (Erich) Evans, of Lima, Chris Furlong, of Cridersville, and Aaron Furlong, of Spencerville; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Phyl Malikowski, of Collegeville, Pa., and Peggy Malikowski, of Murphys, Calif.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna J. McPhee; three brothers, Joseph and Eugene Malikowski and Henry “Hank” (Mary Helen) Malin.
Services will begin at 6 p.m. Monday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville. Father John Fleck will officiate.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the fine care she received at Otterbein Retirement Community, Roselawn Manor Nursing Home and St. Rita’s Medical Center.
