Dale L. Lockwood

Cridersville - Dale L. Lockwood, 93, died at 1:18 a.m., Dec. 5, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born May 29, 1916 in Petroleum, Ind., to Edwin and Iva Dyson Lockwood.
On April 1, 1944, he married Dorothy M. Pain, who survives.
Mr. Lockwood was owner of Lockwood Real Estate and past President of the Lima Board of Realtors. He was a member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Lima Central High School and attended Ball State University. He was a member of the Lima Farmer’s Club. He belonged to the B.P.O.E., Lima Lodge No. 54; a 50 year member of the Lima Lodge No. 205, F. & A.M., the Shawnee Commandery No. 14, Knights Templar; Lima Chapter No. 49, Royal Arch Masons; Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. He also belonged to the Antioch Shrine Temple, Dayton; Lima Shrine Club, and the Lima Rotary. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Other survivors include three sons, John H. (Sandy) Lockwood, of Lima, David A. (Hope) Lockwood, of Coral Gables, Fla., and Greg C. Lockwood, of Lima; a daughter, Lynda S. Lockwood, of Ottawa; two grandchildren, Scott (Melissa) Lockwood, of Findlay, and Mike A. Lockwood, of Lima; six great grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Lockwood, of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Ann “Maggie” Lockwood; and a sister, Fern Hoverman.
Services will begin 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, in Shawnee United Methodist Church. The Rev. Charlotte Hefner will officiate. Cremation will follow the services and the cremated remains will be buried at a later date in Shawnee Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville and one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
