Antelle Marie Haithcock

Lima

Antelle Marie Haithcock, 55, died at 3:44 p.m. June 3, 2010, at her residence in Lima.

She was born May 22, 1955, in Lima to Harold Lawrence Jr. and Phyllis Ann Green Haithcock. Her mother preceded her in death. Her father survives in Lima.

Miss Haithcock graduated from Lima Senior High School and graduated from Specs Howard School of Broadcasting, in Southfield, Mich. Antelle started her career at WLIO and served as a weatherperson and reporter. Antelle also served as a columnist for The Lima New. However, Antelle is fondly remembered for hosting the successful “A Gospel Sound” program on WLIO. In recent years, Antelle had dedicated herself to public speaking in support of community building initiatives and public relations for a variety of nonprofit organization such as Bradfield Community Center. In 2004, Antelle ran for Allen County commissioner, and even though she didn’t win she garnered significant support from the Lima community.

Antelle was a long-standing member of Second Baptist Church and loved to sing in the Second Baptist Mass Choir and the Women’s Choir. Antelle was also an avid reader and loved to write. She would often tell friends and family that singing always lifted her spirits. Most of all, Antelle loved being with her family. Antelle was a dedicated daughter, niece, aunt, cousin and friend. She could always be counted on for a funny line, an uplifting story or a shoulder to cry on.

Survivors include two brothers, Steven L. Haithcock and Scott D. (Nicole) Haithcock, both of Lima; an aunt, Vivian Green, of Lima; and two uncles, Gordon E. (Madeline) Haithcock, of Chicago, and Robert T. (Mildred) Haithcock, of Woodbridge, Va.

Services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church. Dr. B. LaMont Monford Sr. will officiate. Dr. Dennis Ward will eulogize. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Condolences may be sent to JonesClarkFH@aol.com.

Arrangements are by Jones-Clark Funeral Home.
