Ronald Evan Lewis, 67, died at 4:40 a.m. Oct. 4, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 14, 1942, in Lima to Harry E. and Gladys L. Clapper Lewis, who preceded him in death. He was raised by his grandmother, Martha Clapper, who preceded him in death. On June 10, 1961, he married R. Diane Williams, who survives in Lima.
Mr. Lewis was owner of Advanced Copy Products, Lima, for 30 years, and for the last 11 years he was owner of Lewis Concessions. He was a member of Christ Church Episcopal. He was a life member of Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks 54, American Legion Post 96, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 199. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, working outside in the yard and the History Channel. He was a classic-car enthusiast. He was very warmhearted and loved his family deeply. He had a natural born sense of humor and many funny quotations. He brought many smiles and laughter to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He fought a very courageous battle with cancer, never losing hope, never giving up and always staying positive. He was an inspiration to his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved his dog, Mylene, who was his constant companion and walked beside him through his journey with cancer.
Survivors also include three sons, Gregory (Cheryl) Bowman, of Green Bay, Wis., Gary (Tammy) Lewis, of Lima, and Craig Lewis, of Columbus; a daughter, Pamela Ovelgonne, of Delphos; a son-in-law, Michael Ovelgonne; a sister, Jackie (Mike) Reynolds, of Westminster; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Stechschulte, Jamie Schomber, Jessica (Erick) Hayes, Gregory Bowman, Deanna Bowman, David Bowman, Eric Lewis, Sarah Lewis, Evan Lewis, who is stationed with the Army in South Korea, Amber (Mark) Nichols and Chloe Gordon; a grandson-in-law, Eric Schomber; and 10 great-grandchildren, Thomas, Kassadee, Brian and Kaleb Stechschulte, Hannah, Madalyn and Rheanna Schomber, Jordyn and Reagan Hayes and Taylor Bowman.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Dr. Richard T. Palmer will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and following the burial for a dinner at American Legion Post 96.
